Introduction
This project was founded in late 2001 to create a modular role-playing game of high quality in which everyone can create his own stories, adventures, characters, monsters or even spell effects - or just play the games others created. For this reason the RPG-Project comes in two parts. The game itself and the quest generator. The generator can be used to setup own storylines and to define the game environment like items and monsters. After "compiling" the quest it can be played in the game. Some quests of course are already finished and can be played immediatley, e.g. the current "main quest" which is the story we would like to tell you. If you just want to play a single game, for example, you will need the game engine only. It will load a game file and a lot of setup and grafic files before you start to play. Our vision for the future is, that after you finished the game, you may download and play just another one, quest by quest. To realize this vision we just need some more quests :o) So if you want to create your own adventures, you can use the quest generator to do so. You can use a lot of pre-defined resources to set up your own quests. There are monster libraries, object libraries (trees, walls and so on), random items and more. For the setup of maps a powerfull auto-generation tool exists, but of course every single tree and stone can be placed or modified by hand. If you finished a quest please send it to us so we can upload it and make it available for other players in the download section. In the near future it will be possible to play multiplayer games against others by internet. If you want to read more about the game features, go here. This game project is programmed in C++ and uses DirectX for windows. Maybe later on, it will be transferred to Linux. To see how far the development has come until now, look for the screenshots or the news. Most graphics are generated and animated in POV-Ray - a free 3D render program. This guarantees a high grafical quality and flexibility in development. Because game development is a very complex matter, we are allways looking for help. For this reason, everyone who is interested in this project will get the chance to bring in his ideas.
