POV-Ray Animations Objects Items Specification Links

POV-Ray

This project uses the free software renderer POV-Ray to generate all graphics and animations. On the following pages you will find more details. For an overview of the abilities of POV-Ray, please follow the image link below to our Walking Mage Scene.

If you have POV-Ray objects you would like to send us, please read the specification page first.

There are three major categories for the POV-Ray objects used in this project.

  • First, there are objects like trees, rocks, walls, fences and so on. These objects are only shown from one perspective (like in other 2D games, too). Objects might be animated in some way, but the default is only one image per object.
  • Then there are animated figures like characters, non player characters and monsters, which are rendered in at least 150 and up to 768 frames.
  • The last category are items. For each item two images are generated, a small one and a larger one. On the item selection screen of the game, the small images are used to display the items in overview, and by selecting an item the larger image is loaded and displayed for a more detailed look. See screenshot page for examples.
Items may be part of a rendered character figure, too. For example, the axe the dwarf in the first demo swings.

You may just follow the links through the next pages to get an idea of this stuff.
