Game Basics - Party

The player's party consists of 4 characters and additional none player characters like creatures summoned by a magician to support the party or hirelings.

The player controls only one character at once directly. This leading character can be chosen from each of the four party members and can be switched rapitly. Every possible action like walking somewhere, attacking or casting a spell can be started by control buttons.

The others characters act autonomously depending on a lot of behaviour-parameters which can be set up and changed at any time. For example, for every possible action of each character the priority to use it can be defined. Furthermore, the basic behaviour like distance to enemies, whom to attack first and so on can be decided.

Generally, for party control four different modes exist:

  • Follow mode: the party just follows the leader and does not attack anyone.
  • Stay mode: the party members stay where they are and defend if necessary.
  • Attack mode: each party member selects the enemy to attack freely.
  • Target mode: all party members attack the enemy the leader has selected as target.

Because of this kind of control, the game-play is a mixture between action and tactics. On the one hand combats are in real time, but on the other hand your success strongly depends on the interaction and team play of the whole party.

Although every character has its own attributes and equipment, the parties luggage is shared. All items the party carries are accessible for each character allways.
